NO BIRDS TO BE ON DISPLAY DURING 2023 FAIRS in QUEBEC
The Ministère de l’Agriculture, des Pêcheries et de l’Alimentation (Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food) informs us of the adoption of a new regulation concerning bird breeding premises in order to prevent the spread of avian influenza.
Bird owners and keepers are temporarily prohibited from:
To assemble birds from different farms on their premises for the purpose of sale or exchange, or on the occasion of a contest, exhibition or fair;
Bring or cause to be brought their birds to a place where birds are gathered for sale or exchange, or for the purpose of a contest, exhibition or fair.
Consult the Règlement sur des conditions de salubrité temporaires des lieux d’élevage d’oiseaux pour prévenir la propagation du virus de l’influenza aviaire hautement pathogène to learn about the new obligations.
On-farm prevention remains the best way to reduce the risk of introducing or spreading the disease. It is essential to apply rigorous biosecurity measures at all times.
